Ethan Sofa has been in custody since December, when he and his mother were found hiding out in Mexico.

&#thirty-nine;Affluenza' Teen Sentenced To Nearly Two Years

A wealthy teenager who used an "affluenza" defence in a fatal drink-driving case has been sentenced to nearly two years after violating parole.

Ethan Couch, nineteen, was ordered to serve one hundred eighty days in jail for each of the four people he killed in the two thousand thirteen crash.

District Judge Wayne Salvant said the sentences are to be served consecutively.

The decision comes nearly two months after Couch'south case was moved to adult Ct in Texas.

Sofa was sixteen when he crashed his pickup truck into a 24-year-old woman whose vehicle had broken down, killing her and three others who'd stopped to help.

His blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the valid limit, prosecutors said.

In a astonishment sentence, Sofa was given ten years' probation in juvenile Ct after his lawyers argued his wealthy upbringing made him irresponsible.

Prosecutors sought to have the case moved to adult Ct after Sofa and his mother were captured in a Mexican resort town in December.

Authorities believe Tonya Sofa and her son fled the country after an online video surfaced that appeared to indicate the teenager at a party where alcohol was being served.

Tonya Couch faces a charge of hindering the apprehension of a felon.
