State Residence Minister Ramesh Chennitala says more than sixty people have died and one hundred fifty others have been injured in the fire.

NEW DELHI — A top official says more than sixty people have died in a massive fire that broke out in temple in the southern Indian state of Kerala.

State Residence Minister Ramesh Chennitala says more than sixty people have died and one hundred fifty others have been injured in the fire.

He says the fire was started by firecrackers stored in the temple.

The temple was crowded as people were celebrating a festival and the firework display was a major attraction.
