The Interior Ministry said all five occupants of a car with French license plates were killed when it was hit side-on by another car in which two occupants died and one was seriously injured. The ministry said not all the occupants had been identified but Spanish executive were in contact with French and Moroccan consulates.

Carles Puigdemont, president of Catalonia, offered his "condolences and solidarity to the victims."
