After this week'south announcement that the Revolv bright residence hub will soon be disabled, Alphabet-owned Nest says it'south working to compensate customers who've been using the system.

Nest to Disable Revolv Hub, Mulls Paying Back Users

Early adopters who sprung for Nest'south 9 Revolv bright residence hub may obtain their money back.

After this week'south announcement that the Revolv bright residence hub will soon be disabled, Alphabet-owned Nest says it'south working to compensate customers who've been using the system.

Revolv was acquired by Nest, Aphabet'south bright residence arm, in two thousand-fourteenth. On May fifteen, the Revolv system will number longer work — users will have to discover a new way to control their bright residence systems.

Meanwhile, the money that Nest would've spent on supporting Revolv will go toward the Works with Nest system, which links to a no of bright residence devices with household names love Whirlpool dishwashers and Philips lights, according to Nest.

"Revolv was a grand first step toward the connected home, but we believe that Works with Nest is a better solution and are allocating resources toward that program accordingly," Nest spokesman Billy Burnett said in an email to CNBC.

Nest is working with customers on a case-by-case basis on compensation, according Burnett. The company wouldn't disclose precisely how Revolv users would be compensated or whether their Revolv devices could be replaced by Nest devices.

Nest declined to share the no of customers affected by the Revolv shutdown.

Latest week, two key Nest employees left the company amid increasing pressure to make better sales of internet-connected devices, according to a Re/code report.
