Not everyone found Google'south "mic drop" April Fools' Day joke funny.

The feature, which allowed Gmail users to paste a GIF of a minion dropping a microphone, which signaled that a user was exiting a conversation, was pulled this morning after users complained that they inadvertently had used the feature on bosses, clients and people who may not have found it funny.

The feature also muted subsequent replies in an email chain after a "mic drop."

"Well, it looks love we pranked ourselves this year. Due to a bug, the Mic Drop feature inadvertently caused more headaches than laughs. We’re truly sorry," a Google representative said in a statement. "The feature has been turned off. If you're still seeing it, please reload your Gmail page."

Google has a history of putting out elaborate April Fools' Day pranks. It's previously joked about changing its title to Topeka and putting ads on blimps, among countless other pranks.
