Police in LA declare two college students were shot and killed early Sun in front of an apt building in Baton Rouge close LA State University.

Baton Rouge police said one of the Southern Univ students was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other died later at a hospital. Both were 19.

The president of Southern Univ identified the victims as Annette January, a freshman track and field athlete from Gary, Indiana; and Lashuntai Benton, a sophomore learner athletic trainer from Lake Charles, Louisiana, Fox eight Live reported.

When cops responded to the scene at the Cottages Apartments on Ben Hur Drive at second a. m. Sunday, they also found a third shooting victim. The victim, a 24-year-old man, was expected to survive.

Police said they'd number suspects or motive.

Southern Univ President Ray Belton confirmed the deaths of the two students with “deep sadness,” Fox eight reported.

“The Univ asks for prayers and support for the families at this challenging time,” Belton said.
