7-week-old baby secure after abduction from suburban Philadelphia mall

A 7-week-old baby was found secure Thursday, hours after he was abducted from a suburban Philadelphia shopping mall.

Upper Merion Township Police said Ahsir Simmons was kidnapped by an unidentified woman in the food Ct of the King of Prussia Plaza at approximately 5:30 p. m. local time.

Investigators said the woman befriended the boy'south family at the mall, and they sat down together in the food court. When Ahsir became fussy, police declare the woman asked if she could keep him. The baby'south mother gave her permission to do so while she took a phone call and dealt with other children in her care. That'south when police declare the woman walked far with Ahsir.

The woman was seen on surveillance footage exiting the Mall in the area by a Bonefish Grill restaurant. Authorities issued an Amber Alert soon after.

Police said the suspected abductor was in custody and the baby was being examined by doctors late Thursday. They added that a tip led them to a residence in nearby Tredyffrin Township, where the woman was showing off the infant to relatives.
