Report: NFL teams believe that Jared Goff to the Rams is a 'done deal'

The biggest mystery in the NFL Draft may not be a mystery at all.

Ever since the Rams traded up for the No. one overall choose on April fourteen, most people have been wondering who they're going to spend that choose on. Apparently, it'south not that large a mystery to other NFL teams because they all believe the same thing: The Rams are going to go with Jared Goff.

Sources from four different teams told NJ. com that they believed the Rams would be drafting the former Cal quarterback. One team source even called it a "done deal."

According to the LA Times, the only reason the Rams aren't openly negotiating with Goff is because the NFL has asked the team to hold the choose a secret so that there'south some drama at the top of the draft.

How sure is Goff to the Rams?

Goff'south dad, Jerry, told the LA Times that he'south a "beautiful excellent idea" where his son his headed.

Goff to the Rams makes even more sense when you think about the trade the Eagles made to move up to the No. two spot. After Philly traded with the Browns, Eagles executive vice president Howie Roseman said he was sure his team was going to obtain the player they wanted. Roseman also hinted that the team would get a quarterback.

It seems unlikely the Eagles would've made the move unless they knew precisely who the Rams were going to take. If the Rams go Goff, then the Eagles will likely go with Carson Wentz.

Of course, it's smokescreen season and it'south possible that Roseman meant the opposite of everything he said.

As for the Rams, they've been playing the NFL'south mystery game perfectly. After the trade for the top choose was made, there were several leaks that said they'd get Goff and other leaks that said they'd get Wentz.

Although Rams common manager Les Snead won't reveal who his team is drafting, he did declare on April nineteen that there's a boss in the clubhouse.

Of course, if the Rams do go with Goff, they're only getting the third-best quarterback in the draft, at minimum according to Phil Simms. The NFL on CBS announcer has Wentz and Paxton Lynch both ahead of Goff on his draft board.

If the Rams do go with Goff, that'll create at minimum one person in LA happy: Rams linebacker Akeem Ayers. Ayers is one of the few players who'south gone on the record with a preference at quarterback and Ayers would love his team to draft the guy from the Pac-12.
