Vernon Adams endorses Vernon Adams as the second-best QB in draft

Vernon Adams, the former OR quarterback, believes Vernon Adams, the future NFL quarterback, is one of the best quarterbacks in the two thousand sixteen NFL Draft class. Yes, those two Adams are the same person, which makes him a bit biased.

"I perceive love I'm as excellent as everybody else, or better than everybody else in this draft," Adams told USA Today.

Unfortunately for Adams, that isn't a widely-held belief. In fact, it'south not even a guarantee that he'll be drafted following weekend. Still, if it were up to Adams, he'd be heading into the draft as the second-ranked NFL quarterback behind Carson Wentz, according to USA Today.

And that means he believes he'south a better quarterback than Cal'south Jared Goff, who'll nearly undoubtedly be taken with one of the first two picks in the draft.

"I've played Jared Goff. They always wish to speak about my hands being too small, but my hands are bigger than his. I've played in snowy games. I've played in rainy games. I've played in negative-15 degree games. See at my wins to losses, see at my touchdowns to interceptions. See at my career yards," Adams said. "I'm not a cocky dude, I just wish everybody to know that everything that everyone else is doing, I can do it as well. It'south just so much on my height."

OK, let's look:

  • Win-loss record: 7-3

  • Touchdown-interception ratio: 26-6

  • Passing yards: 2.643

Stastically, Adams has a point.

"Keep on the film when I wasn't playing, and keep on the film when I was playing and look how much of a game-changer I was," Adams said. "Honestly, those words aren't just mine, it'south my teammates that have told me that. They'll say, 'Man, forget your height, this is what you should tell the scouts.' That'south what they say, and it really is the truth."

So, should Adams be drafted as high as the first round? Is his height -- 5-foot-11 -- an exaggerated issue love he suggested?

According to CBS Sports' draft analysts, Rob Rang and Dane Brugler, the reply is no. Here'south how they concluded their scouting report on Adams:

IN OUR VIEW: Adams' low launch point is a major issue and his frail frame will likely hold him from being drafted. He's a excellent passer in practice, but Adams just isn't built for NFL action.

That scouting report also included this interesting nugget:

Of the two hundred twenty-nine quarterbacks drafted since one thousand nine hundred ninety-six, only five (2.2 %&#forty-one; have been below six-feet tall.

Given his explosiveness and college success, Adams will at minimum be handed a training-camp roster spot by somebody, which will give him a chance to prove himself as the following Russell Wilson. The odds will be against him, though.

According to Cian Fahey, only three quarterbacks (Wilson, Doug Flutie, and Seneca Wallace&#forty-one; below the 6-foot label have thrown at least one hundred passes in the NFL since 1990.
