Khris Davis homered in his first appearance before the Oakland residence crowd as the A'south snapped a five-game spring skid.

Matt Chapman also homered for the A's. There were eight total hits in the preseason series finale of the Bay Bridge Series, the final tuneup for the clubs before their season openers Monday.

Span'south two errors on one play trying to safe Jed Lowrie'south deep flyball allowed Lowrie to circular the bases for a three-0 lead in the third. Span missed the capture and the ball got far on the warning track.

STARTING TIME

Oakland lefty Felix Doubront, slated to be the club'south fifth starter, worked one inning with a walk before exiting because of tightness in his left forearm. He was undergoing an MRI exam after the game and manager Bob Melvin didn't wish to guess whether a roster move would be necessary.

Former Giants prospect lefty Eric Surkamp (2-1) worked seven innings of relief to beat his old club.

"Bob keep him in and rode his horse," Bochy said of Melvin. "He went right through us... He was on top of his game."

New reliever John Axford made an underhanded "granny" shot from the stands — to which he posted on Twitter, "Damn it feels excellent to be a (granny shootin) gangsta!!!"

Pitcher Chris Bassitt won the 3-point contest and a Klay Thompson jersey, while non-roster righty Ryan Brasier captured the free toss shooting crown and Curry'south No. thirty uniform top.

Melvin didn't shoot — he left the fun to his players — but said he was able to dunk beginning as a sophomore in high school but likely no longer.
