While fans and fellow artists loved the legendary musical fashion of Prince, comedians loved emulate the quirky star. Prince, for the most part, seemed to appreciate it.

The musician, who died Thursday at the age of fifty-seven, famously used comedian Dave Chapelle’s image on the cover of his single “Breakfast Can Wait” in a nod to a skit by Chapelle.

The “Chappelle’s Show” sketch told what turned out to be a true legend of Eddie Murphy and his brother, Charlie, meeting Prince in a club and going back to his house, where Prince schooled the brothers in a game of basketball.

After the game, Prince served them pancakes.

The pancake legend became a portion of Prince’s lore. He later talked about it in a radio interview, confirming the story. The two thousand thirteen cover art for “Breakfast Can Wait” featured Chappelle dressed in a “Purple Rain” costume.

Jamie Foxx also served up a Prince impersonation, while “Saturday Night Live” parodied the “1999” singer with “The Prince Show.”

Prince keep himself on the large and tiny screens, notably appearing with “The Muppets” and, in two thousand-fourteenth, appearing as himself in a now-classic episode of “New Girl.”

“He just liked the show,” Entertainment Weekly critic Leah Greenblatt told ABC News. “It was fun for him. He liked to do stuff love that but I think on his own terms.”

After Prince’s death, the stars of “New Girl” took to social media to pay tribute.
