“Frida Kahlo: Through the Lens of Nickolas Muray” features approximately fifty portraits of the artist taken between one thousand nine hundred thirty-seven and one thousand nine hundred forty-six. Hungarian-born Muray was more than just a photographer to Kahlo.

Head to the Fresno Art Museum for an exhibition that since opening in late January. “Frida Kahlo: Through the Lens of Nickolas Muray” features approximately fifty portraits of the artist taken between one thousand nine hundred thirty-seven and one thousand nine hundred forty-six. Hungarian-born Muray was more than just a photographer to Kahlo. He met her on a vacation to Mexico in one thousand nine hundred thirty-first, and the encounter sparked an affair that continued on and off for a decade. Muray also is known for taking memorable pictures of athletes (Babe Ruth), film stars (Marilyn Monroe) and authors (Langston Hughes). But he photographed Kahlo more than any other subject, and his intimate work connects viewers with Kahlo’s creative and restless presence. (two thousand two hundred thirty-three N.
