Four veteran journalists leave Sacramento’s Channel ten

Sacramento television Sta Channel ten (KXTV) tender farewell this week to four veteran journalists, all of whom accepted a buyout proposal from Sta owner Tegna Inc.

Although McLean, Va.-based Tegna has declined to comment on its buyout offer, veteran journalists at other Tegna stations across the country have confirmed that they accepted a buyout and made retirement announcements.

KXTV, an ABC affiliate, has telecast on-air tributes to its departing journalists all this week.

The staffers leaving KXTV are George Warren, a reporter at the Sta since one thousand nine hundred eighty-one; Dave Marquis, a live/breaking-news veteran since September one thousand nine hundred ninety-three; Tim Daly, a San Joaquin Valley newsroom reporter and sometime anchor who came to KXTV in September one thousand nine hundred ninety-one; and photojournalist Label Pepper, who worked with Daly in the station’s Stockton bureau for twenty-four years.

As reported by multiple news organizations and confirmed by local sources, Tegna, formed latest year when Gannett Co. spun off its publishing assets, recently offered buyouts to employees ages fifty-five and older with at least fifteen years of company service.
