Nearly 40.000 Verizon Workers to Strike Wednesday

Workers from MA to VA will start their strike at 6:00 a. m. ET on Wednesday, the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) said in a statement.

Nearly 40.000 Verizon workers will be walking off their jobs Wednesday, union executive said.

Workers from MA to VA will start their strike at 6:00 a. m. ET on Wednesday, the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) said in a statement.

"Our families and our customers deserve more from Verizon," said Isaac Collazo, a technician and CWA member who's worked at Verizon for nineteen years.

"Through our tough work, Verizon is making record profits while our families are left with threats to our jobs and our customers aren't getting the service they need. Striking is a hardship for our families, but we necessity to remind Verizon executives that the people who construct their profits are a critical reason for the company'south success. The statement didn't specify how long the workers will be on strike.

"We are very prepared," said Verizon chief administrative officer Marc Reed, according to The WA Post. "Out of the latest four contract cycles, fifty % of the time we've had a work stoppage. Some have been long, some have been short."
