Driver seeking to become first driver to sweep three consecutive NASCAR weekends

Can anyone capture Kyle Busch?

Number other driver in NASCAR has been able to score a win over the past three weeks as the defending Cup Series winner has placed a monopoly on triumph lane. Busch has swept the past two race weekends at Martinsville and Texas, having won across all three national touring divisions in the process.

As if that wasn't remarkable enough, presently Busch has arrived at Bristol Motor Speedway, where he's won sixteen times across Cup, Xfinity and Trucks. He's the undeniable favorite to once again sweep the weekend and he knows it too.

"I think our chances our really good," Busch said.

In accomplishing the feat latest weekend, Busch tied the label set by Harry Gant, who swept consecutive weekends back in one thousand nine hundred ninety-first. Doing so again would be uncharted territory -- as number other driver has ever done so for three straight weeks.

Standing in his way will be the debut of Xfinity Series heat races on Saturday and the first Sprint Cup day race at Bristol in over three years -- not that he's worried about it. And why should he be? Busch is on top of the NASCAR mountaintop right presently and nothing seems insurmountable as a result.

"On the Xfinity side, I’m not going to declare it should be simple because it’s going to be a small different this weekend with heat races," Busch said. "But if we can win a heat and then start up front for the feature, and how the pit strategy plays out ... I think we’ve got a really excellent shot there.

"Then of course we’ve got the 500-lapper on Sun and that’s going to be a small bit harder to figure out, but love I mentioned earlier, we were excellent here in the fall."

He led one hundred ninety-two laps at Bristol in August. Yeah, you could declare he was excellent in the fall, where he also led fifty-two of one hundred fifty laps en route to a triumph in the Xfinity Series.

"I’d love to think that there’s a excellent shot to do it again here and then we’ll hopefully be talking about whether or not we can do it at Richmond too," Busch said. "That would be a beautiful good story."

There are about fifty drivers who'd dispute with that latest statement. But through the first two weeks of April, they've been powerless to stop him. Round three starts on Saturday at Bristol.
